Training for energy efficiency and the sustainable consumption of resources - online course organized in Timisoara

The "Smart and Sustainable Energy Consumption" project, acronym SASEC, eMS no. RORS-300, financed through the Interreg IPA Program for Romania-Serbia Cross-Border Cooperation, has finalized one of its key activities by completing the training activities for energy efficiency and the sustainable consumption of resources. The event took place on the 10th, 11th and 12th of June 2020 and was directed towards representatives of local public authorities, public institutions, companies, NGOs and other stakeholders. In the current context generated by the crisis caused by the new coronavirus – SARS-Cov-2 (COVID-19) pandemic and in order to ensure the well-being of participants as well as respect current regulations and restrictions, it was decided that the course would be held online.

The training was attended by 65 participants, representatives of local public authorities and Timiș County authorities, representatives of decentralized public institutions, local school administrators, representatives of municipal hospitals, representatives of companies that provide public services of local interest, representatives of public institutions of local interest that are subordinated to the Local Council of the Municipality of Timișoara, associations and organizations of public interest as well as other interested persons from the target groups targeted by the project.

The three-day training program was held by lecturers with experience in the field from DENKSTATT Romania S.R.L. and covered both introductory concepts relating to environmental concerns and the general framework of the topic as well as the field of energy efficiency and resource consumption specifically through six dedicated course modules, as follows: Resource consumption, Greenhouse gases and climate change, Legislative framework on energy efficiency, Energy efficiency in buildings, Thermal energy and the energy performance of buildings and Electrical energy. Moreover, additional sources of information were put forward for participants that desired to delve deeper into any of the subjects.

The training focused on both theoretical as well as practical aspects. Through exercises, surveys practical examples and interactive question and answer sessions participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas.
