Zrenjanin received a "smart building" and a Regional Center for Energy Efficiency.

The final conference, the opening of the first "smart building" in Banat and the establishment of the Regional Center for Energy Efficiency, the first of its kind in Serbia, today in Zrenjanin marked the completion of the project "Smart and Sustainable Energy Consumption" (SASEC)., funded by the Interreg IPA cross-border cooperation program Romania-Serbia.


The leading partner in the project was the City of Zrenjanin, with partners - the Regional Center for Socio-Economic Development "Banat", the city of Timisoara and the Sustainable Energy Cluster of Romania - ROSENC, and the total value of the project was 852,000 euros.
The Regional Center for Energy Efficiency is located in a newly built building in Dr. Kornela Radulovića Street, which is the first smart building in Banat, with an area of approximately 500 m2 and built on the model of best practices in architecture, aimed at reducing consumption - preventing waste and use renewable sources, enabling the demonstration of various new technologies and equipment for greater energy efficiency.

The value of the works on the mentioned facility is close to 400,000 euros, and it was symbolically opened by the Minister of European Integration in the Government of Serbia Jadranka Joksimović, Her Excellency the Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Serbia Silvia Davidoiu and the Mayor of Zrenjanin Simo Salapura. The ceremony was also attended by Assistant Provincial Secretary for Energy, Construction and Transport Nebojsa Vojnovic, representatives of the City of Zrenjanin and the municipalities of the Central Banat District, and Anka Lolescu Executive Director of the Regional Bureau for Cross-Border Cooperation and Fritz Dominik Samuel, Mayor of Timisoara, as well as project partners and representatives of the Joint Secretariat of Interreg IPA programme Romania-Serbia.
